Continuing with my cool down with regards to reading that happened last month, I ended up reading 4 books in July.
I’m now at 47 books for the year, which is 1 short of my total for 2017, so, that’s pretty neat I guess.
The 4 books I read were:
-
American Gods — Neil Gaiman
Absolutely loved this book, kept me hooked and I managed to finish reading it in 3 sittings despite the size of the work. Been on my reading list for a long time now. -
Somebody: The Reckless Life and Remarkable Career of Marlon Brando — Stefan Kanfer
As the title suggests, this is a biography of one of my favorite actors of all time, Marlon Brando. Interesting insights into the man and what made him the person, and the actor that he was. Plan to read his autobiography sometime soon. -
The Bhagavad Gita
I’ve written in detail about this in a separate post. -
Principles — Ray Dalio
Got this book earlier this year and added it to my reading list. Written by the legendary founder of Bridgewater Associates, its one of those books that makes me wish I’d picked it up earlier. I will be putting a lot of the lessons from the book into practice over the next few months. Hopefully I can try to be atleast half as transparent as Mr. Dalio with how I do so. Amazing read.
As with last month, I managed to read two books from my reading list from last month.
Here’s what I’m reading now:
- Ethics — Aristotle
- War and Peace — Leo Tolstoy
- Measure what Matters — John Doerr
- 12 Rules for Life — Jordan Peterson
- All the presidents men — Bernstein, Woodward
- Conversations with Myself — Nelson Mandela
- Thirukkural — Thiruvalluvar
