This is a follow up to my no more news post.
I wrote that post on June 21, it’s been around 40 days since I last read the news.
I don’t know what I’ve missed out on, simply because I am in some ways ignorant of it, but, so far, I haven’t been negatively affected by it for sure.
I don’t think I’ve been positively affected by not consuming news in any specific way, I still consume enough content which keeps me informed, but, not of current affairs.
I’ve also since managed to create a cloud of doubt above the heads of a few people with my opinions on news in general.
I have observed, having chosen to turn a blind eye to news how much useless and utterly wasteful information is actually presented to the world, the number of times people have sent me something that is completely unremarkable as a piece of information as if it something groundbreaking saddens me.
In summary, my not reading news,
- has not negatively affected me in any way
- has not directly affected me positively in any way I could say that it is much the same with or without news. It served me not much a purpose perhaps?
But, what that also means is that I now have more time, spent not consuming news, to spare, with my life basically left unaffected.
I think that’s awesome.
So, in that sense, it has had an indirect positive effect for me. Which I think is fantastic.
